Do you know your adult orthodontics options in London?

So you’ve decided that adult braces are the best course of action for you and you’re looking forward to achieving straighter teeth and a more attractive smile. The only looming cloud on the horizon, is that of your braces and what having them fitted will entail.

One of the primary concerns of adult orthodontics patients is how their braces will look when fitted. There is a common fear that modern braces are just as prominent and attention grabbing as the traditional train track style braces that you’re probably imagining. We’d like to reassure you that that isn’t the case at all. Most of the adult braces we offer at our London clinic are very discreet and the best choice to correct your particular alignment issue will depend on how invisible you’d like them to be, your budget and how well they’re going to fit into your lifestyle.

We’d like to provide you with an overview of the adult’s orthodontic range here at Crescent Lodge Dental Practice in Clapham, London, but please bear in mind that we’ll be able to answer all your questions about them in more detail when we meet you in person and examine your teeth.

Fixed adult braces

Whether you decide to go for metal fixed braces, or the more discreet ceramic version, fixed braces are reliable and correct a multitude of alignment issues. Brackets are bonded to the teeth and wire is threaded through them. The wire will be periodically tightened by a dentist here at our Clapham practice in London to maintain pressure on the teeth and keep them moving.

Damon braces

Damon braces are similar to fixed braces, but they are self-litigating, which means the braces will adjust themselves to maintain constant pressure on the teeth. This could reduce the amount of time you spend with your dentist during treatment.

Lingual braces

The celebrity brace of choice. These braces are fitted to the back of the teeth and so are completely hidden from view. They may not correct all alignment problems so examination by a dentist will be necessary to see if you are a suitable candidate.

Clear braces

Clear braces are removable and fit over the teeth in a custom-made manner. They are highly discreet and will be removed before meals and brushing. A number of different aligner trays will be required during your treatment, with each one having its own part to play in your treatment.
