What to Do If You Need an Emergency Dental Appointment
Have you suffered an accident, and lost a tooth? Is an abscess or infection causing you severe pain and discomfort? Do you have a loose, cracked or chipped tooth or filling? If you’ve answered ‘yes’ to any of these questions, it’s time to get in touch with your emergency dentist.
Here at our London dental practice, our emergency dentists help our patients with a range of dental emergencies, helping you feel comfortable, cared for, and confident – ready to get back to daily life once again.
What’s my first step?
You’ll first need to work out whether your problem counts as a dental emergency. Although we’ve covered some of the most common problems above, you might need peace of mind, or still, feel unsure. If in doubt, give our emergency dentists a call, or contact the NHS 111 service.
When will I be seen?
If your problem is a dental emergency, our London dentists will aim to see you as quickly as possible. There are lots we can do to help, but usually, we’ll focus on managing pain, bleeding or infection, to book further treatment at a later date.
How much does the emergency dentist cost?
Costs vary, depending on what’s needed, but start at £70. Our dentists will always be open and honest about any costs involved, whether at your initial appointment or a follow-up.
When can I book an emergency appointment in London?
At Crescent Lodge Dental Practice, we’re able to see you early morning, late evening and even on Saturdays. Our emergency dentists will prioritise serious cases to help these be seen quickly.
What else do I need to know?
- Some cases of emergency treatment need a referral to a medical specialist, such as in the case of heavy bleeding, trauma, broken jaw etc. We’ll let you know if this is the case.
- Treatment might involve stabilising your condition, carrying out an assessment (such as an X-ray) or prescribing treatments. Tooth repair and extraction are also possible.
- An emergency won’t get better on its own; in fact, it’s likely to get worse and potentially cause more problems. That’s why it’s so important to be seen as quickly as possible.
